I think it would be a great idea to get regular tournaments going, and Agricola would be a good game for it, but maybe not for the first board game tournament we hold.  One thing to remember when we debate tournaments though is the length of the game, the number of rounds we would play for that game, and whether the rules would be well known.  I suggest maybe a Chez Geek or Munchkin tournament first, but I would not be against Agricola or any other game that is this enjoyable.

I'm sorry, but I think a Munchkin tourney would be a horrible idea.  The game encourages cheating.  I don't see how that could be played in a tournament setting without problems.

Maybe my take on tournament play is different than others, but I want something that requires skill.  Things like Puerto Rico and Agricola, though more complex, have an actual skill to playing them, and I want something like that.

Just my two cents.

I would also like to go on record as hating Munchkin.  So my opinion on a Munchkin tourney is certainly biased.

I meant no disrespect to John or his ideas.  I think he's a swell guy.  Cheesy

I understand completely Trampas, I forgot about the cheating part with Munchkin, and I do agree that skillful games are more fun for tournaments.  The problem with any game we try to tourney right now is that so few of the more interesting games are known by many people, it makes it a little tough to run a tournament when you will be teaching roughly half the players how to play.

As I said though, I am open to any tournament so just let me know what is decided
